Hello Brave Adventurers!  

Work continues apace on the project, as we continue closing out our features and heading towards Early Access. A large part of the team has begun the process of polishing the heck out of our User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX), which is arguably the most important part of the game, in many ways. We’ve made tremendous strides over the past few weeks, but this is a task that will continue throughout the lifetime of the game. Soon, your feedback as an Early Access participant will be key to making the best experience possible. We can’t wait to talk with you about what you think!  

During our MWF Twitch streams, we have been fine-tuning data and code, finding and reporting bugs, and squashing the heck out of them. This process obviously results in progress, which we are happy to say is humming right along! On our last update, we talked about our Discord channel, and were happy to see how many backers wanted to be in on it. Missed that? Well it is never too late to join! As mentioned, Discord is an awesome free chat client where we get to chat with our backers all throughout the week on our Epic Tavern channel. Tavern Scrawl #38: Squashing and polishing!

Hello Adventurers!

During these past few weeks, we continued to find,

bugs!

We also had a sprinkle of some art along the way with Gabby!

  

We are continuing our bug finding and fixing, along with data polishing and editing the messaging of in-game functions.

Tavern Scrawl #37: Bug squashing!

Hello Adventurers!

This past week we heavily focused on finding and squashing “blocking” bugs. These bugs keep the player from moving forward through the experience, i.e., blocking them from playing further after the bug occurs. These type of bugs are obviously a main focus during the testing process for any game development team.  

So let's get ‘em!!

This week, we will continue focusing on blocking and critical bugs, and streaming along the way on Twitch. We will export all of our streams onto our YouTube channel, and we will also be posting those videos on our updates also.  

Where does one obtain bug repellant in the land of Beor? Ah well, no matter. Nothing a sharpened axe in the hands of a bloodthirsty Memige couldn’t fix, right? :D

Tavern Scrawl #36: Epic Updates!

Hello Brave Adventurers!

We want to personally thank ALL of you who have been reaching out through Kickstarter, present through our development streams, and all of those in our Discord channel. We appreciate everyone’s feedback through this development process - the game would not be as great without your time and input!  

With that being said - definitely due for an update, amirite??  

We are hard at work on our Pre-Alpha Test. This phase of the project will allow us to test out the game experience and get a solid round of feedback that will help us to improve the game for you.

Gabby tests the game! 3.10.17:

 

Eric and Tomo have been working hard to realize a modified Tavern Socializing system, which will allow you to interact with Patrons in a way that is both tactically interesting and natural within the atmosphere of running a tavern. By giving your Tavern a skill check on food and service quality, you will now need to pay attention not only to what your Heroes want, but also to how good of a job your cook and barkeep are doing, making tavern staff and facility development all the more important-- unless you are ok with a bumbling barkeep spilling skunked beer onto your heroes’ laps. This system makes every social interaction feel kind of like a miniature combat, complete with die rolls and everything, and is one facet in a complex skillset you will need to hone to deliver the best experience your Heroes could hope for!

Memige and Jack are focused on chasing down and killing as many bugs as they can, sometimes making progress on the features roadmap as part of the process. For example, Memige was fixing a bug caused when destinations were too close to each other. The result was an expanded encounters system that allows for multiple levels of encounters at the same location (i.e. Dungeons!)

Memige fixes bugs! 3.8.17:

 

Kate is keeping up with all the UI updates that Tomo and Eric are throwing at her, while Gabby is making animations for each character to allow for happy or angry reactions, as well as some sweet dance animations!

With Shawn writing and Sarah converting it all into the database, they have been working together to develop an insane amount of story content. As of this post we are nearly to four hundred (400) quests, with just shy of one thousand (1,000) encounter scenes, giving us unique story combinations of over one million (1,000,000); and that is not even including the changes that can be caused by having particular character’s, classes, or equipment, which could raise that number by an order of magnitude or more! Thanks to their hard work, we are well on the way to our goal of having a unique playthrough every time you start a new game.
